Does Warren Joyce have a soft spot for us and like to help out?

He was in charge of United's youth for quite a while, presumably when we had Cathcart, Chester and Gray on loan. Quite a few international caps between them now. Also SEB came from there but no idea if Joyce is a common link.

Good luck to the lad if he comes but he'll be very much squad cover for Donaldson & Fox now that Smiffy is out.

You are surpassing even your own high standards for being a know-all if you think you know all you need to know about a player (without having seen him kick a ball) based on one red card.

If he's coming here I doubt it will be to sit on our bench instead of Wigan's, it will be to get pitch time.

Some of our best loans have been young lads from second/third tier clubs - Joe Bryan, Bobby Reid, Anthony O'Connor, Caolan Lavery, Craig Tanner, Oscar Threlkeld. I don't think any of those came to be bottom rung squad filler, they came to start matches and were evidently good enough.

On the Wigan forum they seem to be saying he's definitely not a combative midfielder. They see him more as a creative left sided midfielder.

"He has to continue to work on his fitness for the new season, it's a massive part of football now especially in midfield."

Similar was said about Graham Carey before he joined us. Who knows...

They seem very similar players which could suggest he maybe a replacement for Carey.

UTL isn't a very good source of information!! All he ever says is "Adams out" and "one up front at Wembley?!"

From what I've seen it would suggest he's more back up/competition for Slew

UTL isn't a very good source of information!! All he ever says is "Adams out" and "one up front at Wembley?!"
