No away kit at all because we don't need one!

I think we do

No we don't. We never used to have one. What's changed?

People quote Yeovil as the reason, but (i) hopefully not a problem next year and (ii) we had to get a third kit for that game anyway, so it can be done if necessary.
I understand it's a Football League requirement to have a 'change' kit. You need alternate light and dark options for shirt, socks and shorts. The clash need not be colour. This may not be a formal diktat from above but the absence of a change kit used to cause teams to have to play in their opponents change kit if, on the whim of the referee, he thought any confusion might arise. Better to have yer own alternative than suffer the embarrassment of playing in another teams kit eh?

Over time it has however become b*stardised into being called an 'away' kit. More recently still has developed the wearing of the 'away' CHANGE kit at every away game. This is NOT a requirement, it is done to maximise the wearing of a shirt by the team, purely to promote sales and generate income.

Now, I don't like being played as a lemming to commercialism, if I like a shirt i'll buy it, but if I don't I won't. Plenty however buy simply because it's being worn by the team. So although I am morally opposed to commercialism for the sake of it, it is one of a number of scourges of the modern world, I don't object to Argyle parting fools from their money. Although I do find it ironic when THEY complain about the number of times kits change

There is no need to change our current kit next season other than commercialism, in this day and age commercialism is king, so it will change.

I've heard a rumour that the home kit is dayglow pink and the away fluorescent yellow

That brings another set of problems entirely....

That is quite funny.

There was no need to change our green either yet you subscribe to it.

You're better than the one trick pony you come across as sometimes Ian, it's a shame.

I didn't call for our current green at the time, no-one did, it was imposed, YES, just like annual kit changes. However no-one at the time was rabble rousing or clutching pitchforks demanding it be changed back. To build it up to such a cause celebre now is inconsistent, if it is such an issue now, why wasn't it then?

It was different, it looked a bit classy at the time, a time that coincided with our best period of sustained success so no-one got antsy about it.

Fast forward a decade and a half and whether you or I like it or not it's now become established, a whole generation has grown up knowing nothing else, the whole ground and club livery is the same colour.

I'm content with it, many are. You're not, many share your view. But until the club decide it wants to shell out on 'recoloring' it's branding (a dirty word to you but that's what they call it) it's a moot point.

Argyle entered my active consciousness in the Ciderman/Ken Brown era so emerald green is very familiar to me and i'd not be discontent or militant about it if we switched back. So why the militancy in reverse?

We all have our preferences but i'm even handed enough to accept an acceptable colour swatch and all that matters to me, especially post 'rainbow nation', is green, black and white.

I wish the 'lighter green lobby' which was singularly absent at the time of the switch could be equally aseven handed, less chippy and militant about it and consider other opinions just as openly and pragmatically.

It's become a bit of a stuck record that's as inconsistent and irrelevant as it is boring all the while the club retain it's stated position on things.

I'll take that as tacit agreement then

Those observations and questions are valid whatever day of the week it is, however inconvenient the truth may be.

Lots of references to a Hibs type kit- we have worn that in the early 50s and I remember it from early 70s in the Derek Rickard/Don Hutchins era as the link shows.

Like many, for me, it's the shade of green that needs addressing. I can't get as excited as some about whether it's stripes, hoops or the cut of the collar but would welcome a move away from the current shade of green.

To be honest I don't think there is anything wrong with this year's shirt one of my favorites in years
The problem is that it looks better with white shorts and socks and normally that is not my favorite combination
I was brought up on the beacon electrical kit black shorts white socks
I also don't like the all white away kit think that would look better with green shorts and socks but the shirt is great

I agree Eden. This years shirt is one of my favourites for a long time. Mind you I always prefer more green and black and less white on our shirts. If you look at Historical Football kits it shows we never actually had any white on our shirt until the mid 40's, and then only the collar. Like you I prefer black shorts and white socks. This, along with a green shirt with black trim, to me is our classic kit, and we stick to it as much as we can.

I couldn't think of anything worse than the Hibs kit. Too much white but also, its a Hibs kit! we should have our own identity. Same with Green and white stripes - this isn't our historical kit, although it seems with all the talk about the shirt being too dark, we might have a bit more white next season.
