To be honest I don't think there is anything wrong with this year's shirt one of my favorites in years
The problem is that it looks better with white shorts and socks and normally that is not my favorite combination
I was brought up on the beacon electrical kit black shorts white socks
I also don't like the all white away kit think that would look better with green shorts and socks but the shirt is great

I agree Eden. This years shirt is one of my favourites for a long time. Mind you I always prefer more green and black and less white on our shirts. If you look at Historical Football kits it shows we never actually had any white on our shirt until the mid 40's, and then only the collar. Like you I prefer black shorts and white socks. This, along with a green shirt with black trim, to me is our classic kit, and we stick to it as much as we can.
Been thinking about it and i reckon it will be a remake of our away kit but in green next season with white band across the front
I couldn't think of anything worse than the Hibs kit. Too much white but also, its a Hibs kit! we should have our own identity. Same with Green and white stripes - this isn't our historical kit, although it seems with all the talk about the shirt being too dark, we might have a bit more white next season.

Lots of references to a Hibs type kit- we have worn that in the early 50s and I remember it from early 70s in the Derek Rickard/Don Hutchins era as the link shows.

Like many, for me, it's the shade of green that needs addressing. I can't get as excited as some about whether it's stripes, hoops or the cut of the collar but would welcome a move away from the current shade of green.

We aren't going to.

The darker "racing" green is our brand, like it or not.

I would imagine there'll just be a decent chunk of white in the kit next year to counter these visibility problems.

You may well be right Andy but, with a lot of green and white in the home kit, the away kit will probably be a non-X'y colour... unless it is black.

A) Andy, there are no visibility problems, there are just IMAGINED visibility problems. So you could be right about increased white in the home kit but the reasoning from DA is bogus.

B) There are no "X'y" colours, just Argyle colours, those colours are green, black and white. Anything else is a cuckoo in the nest, end of.

C) At the prospect of a return to 'rainbow nation' change kits I have crossed myself a hundred times and stuck pins in an effigy of Rudolf Dassler :furious:

We COULD have a black change kit for the required contrast because there is no obligation to use it for any fixture at all. We COULD use our green/white home kit all season, home and away, whilst retaining a varient option should a referee decide on a whim that there's an issue.

That would cover our necessary requirements to the league AND to our traditions.

I always buy a kit and I always give it away when on holiday at the end or near the end of the season.

However, I will keep the green banded away kit from this season it's a classic as far as I'm concerned.

If I was in charge of the kit choice, I'd reverse that one just like they did in 68. That would make a smashing home kit.

I agree, wholeheartedly.

With white shorts and white socks it ticks all the boxes, even the made up 'visibility' ones.

I would also do the unthinkable in today's modern 'slave to commercialism' world and keep the current change kit, only with green socks and shorts to comply with the contrast requirements.

I've never, ever bought into this idea that we can't change the shade of green because it's our brand. Look at the Pasoti heading, look at the scarves and shirts people wear, and more relevant...look at the club branding this season based around the away shirt design.

Even if we don't 'rebrand' the signage etc (though surely the grandstand refresh provides a good opportunity), no-one is going to come to Home Park, see the players in a lovely shade of green and think 'wow that's a nice shirt, but isn't it ridiculous that I'm sitting in a seat that's slightly darker'.

It's very simple. The Argyle 'brand' is green. No-one in the wider football world gives a fig what shade it is, and if they do then they'd be a little confused over why it's so dark and barely looks green at all.

In my 29 years of supporting Argyle, I've seen 5 relegations and 3 promotions, the kits we wore in those seasons, are as follows:

Relegations:
91-92 green and white stripes
94-95 green and black stripes
97-98 green and white stripes
09-10 green, one white arm
10-11 light green and dark green stripes

Promotions:
95-96 Green, white and black (with what can only be described as a ā€œspecialā€ design)
01-02 Dark green
03-04 Dark green

I think that scientifically proves we should never go back to stripes, and either stick with dark green shirts or go back to the "special" shirt of 1995-96. Personally I'd go back to the 95-96 shirt, but I'm happy with either.

My thoughts exactly and, as X'y suggests, have contrasting shorts/socks......bring it on :scarf:

I just think it's tidier to have a singularity of green, one way or t'other.

It's sooo much better this season to look at the crowd, inside and outside the ground, and not see any bleedin yellow, blue or 'kin lilac shirt abominations diluting our identity.

It'd be a reduced contrast having different shades of green, by no means as offensive as completely alien colours, but not a uniform look. It just appeals to my sense of order to have one green, I suspect the current club position reflects that too.

One thing I would wish to be enshrined though *IF* that position changed and EVERYTHING was one day brought back to emerald...is have no further change for a generation*, stick with it. Chopping and changing creates a mess.

The most logical time for a change, if it needs one, would be when the grandstand gets done. The primary part of the ground will be getting a lick of new paint along with all the offices and (God I hope) bars and corporate hospitality.

*by generation I mean 20 years plus. I know life expectancy in Scotland is short but two years between 'once in a generation' referenda is taking the pee

I think the green at the top of this site (Islamic Green) would suit everyone.
