Before i leave you, i just had to burrow up overground to inform (frustrate) you one last time about a 'nugget' that is worth keeping an eye on in the depths of non-league:
Danny Hattersley, 19 year old, striker, Lancaster City. So far during the 11/12 season the young Isle of Man born striker has scored 21 goals (roughly a quarter of Lancaster's goal tally) and has impressed with his pace, movement, deceptive aerial prowess and finishing ability. During January 2011 while he was a student at Myerscough College, Hattersley was selected to represent the England College’s Football Association (ECFA) after putting in some impressive display's for his college's football development centre. Hattersley has attracted a lot of interest in non-league circles this season with big spending non-league side AFC Fylde putting in a seven day notice approach during January which left the Lancaster boss Tony Hesketh fuming apparantly. The latest club to reportedly show an interest is Conference Prem club Stockport County, with Jim Gannon apparantly set to take a closer look at the player in training next week - Lancaster manager Hesketh said: “We have close links with County and they know all about Danny, now that Jim Gannon has returned to the club they have picked up their interest again. I don’t envisage him leaving us this season, they have only made a tentative enquiry and it may be that he joins up with them next season.” Jim Gannon is someone who has had great success plucking players from the lower depths of non-league in previous years with current Premier League player Anthony Pilkington a prime example. During his time playing junior football on the Isle of Man, Hattersley broke a club record (54 goals) for his side Castletown when he scored 91 goals in just 24 games in one season. A young player with decent potential.
All the best my Pilgrims...
