Are we going to bother with away games next season ???

May be would should look to save some expenditure and just give the home team the 3 pts and have the week off with our family up north

Our away form isn't as bad as most people make out. We'd currently be 21st with 42 points if we did that.Stevenage have picked up just 1 point more than us away from home and Luton only 2 points more.

I would like a white shirt with green sleeves and green v neck design with black shorts and white socks with green and black trim.

Can we please get the user who put up designs to do some away ones based on our ideas.

Simple white or black with green trim would be good and so much better than the god awful yellow.

Home kit mainly green, away kit same design but mainly white.

Or we could revert to the managers real favourite team colours, like we did with Sturrock?!?!

Perhaps when representatives of the Trust meet Martyn Starnes next week, in one of their regular meetings, they could ask the following,

Has the decision on the design and colours of the away kit for next season been made?

If so, when was the decision made, who made it and what is the kit design and colour.

I only ask as normally these decisions have to be made significantly in advance to ensure a ready supply of new shirts for pre-season sales.

Good point on the deadline aspect there. On the home kit we were told a couple of years back designs had to be in by the New Year, that's why they jumped back into bed with Puma.

I wonder if, under this 'tail wagging the dog' Puma contract, it's actually Puma that choose our away kits

How else, if deadlines are as we were told, can a shirt be created out of thin air some six months after the supposed deadline?

Our bizarre assortment of plain non Argyle colours leads me to suggest we're just given whatever colour Puma has surplus stock for once they've catered for the needs of the customers they actually value.

Seems ridiculous, but then the choices HAVE been ridiculous and how else can the deadline issue square be circled.... unless of course Argyle lied to us when rushing to sign that new Puma contract just before Christmas that year.

More questions than answers. However. If I were sending our Trust representatives to speak with Argyle, as interested as I'd be to know quite WTF our shirts are all about, there are far more pressing issues.

Asking detailed questions about shirts might suggest we're content with the club's financial position, the malaise over the grandstand and a massively unpopular manager. Shirts should at most be an AOB item on the minutes after they've grilled them long and hard over the major issues.

Agree with this, but are the Zboard going to take any notice?

I don't see shirts as an item of AOB..... nope, in the great scheme of things, for a lot of us they're not as important as many other 'big' issues, but for many fans they are.

As for the varying colours of the away shirts, it's simply about trying to maximise revenue income. Every time a different colour is used, it allows for a new range of other items (hats, scarves, etc) to be made available for sale. It seems to me ~ like it or not ~ that most clubs do this.

As for 'getting back into bed' with Puma, this was on the back of Adidas pulling out of our contract when we went into administration & was ~ so we were told ~ the best deal available at the time (brokered by Ridsdale). If you remember, we had to have an off-the-shelf shirt that first year, with a slightly lighter shade of green.....

No Jon. The initial Puma contract was as you describe but despite fan dissatisfaction with their 'off the peg' offerings Argyle renewed the contract citing 'deadline pressures' just before Christmas 2013 (or 2012 - the years fly by!).

Prior to this decision Ian had sourced a more accommodating retailer who produced plans for our 'flag kit' designs.

It wasn't a 'Hobson's choice' administration deal at all, it was a conscious overlooking of something the fans had come up with that would have sold in bucket loads over a deal that has given us bland and non Argyle kits ever since.

I agree with your observation of commercialism over fan engagement, it only strengthens my suggestion that we're being 'fed' kits and colours by Puma rather than actually having what WE want.

I also share your feelings that shirts are important, they're one of the most obvious manifestations of my long established mantra over our identity. I just feel right now there are more pressing matters to put to the club. Not ignoring our identity requirements, just prioritising the biggest problems.
