He's a very good player, but I don't believe for a moment that our promotion push will founder on the sale of a full back who I'd rate at 8/10, when his immediate replacement I'd rate at 6.5/10.

I do believe, however, that Adams can find a suitable long-term replacement from the "sow's ear" category using the £600k.

Saw him in a nightclub in Exeter last weekend at 2.00 am in the morning. I recognised him and he said typical he had not been spotted all evening until then.
Told me he was wanting to move on and he had offers on the table. Couldn't push him anymore at the time but got the inkling he was on his way
Surprised its for Rotherham though as I regard them to be a smaller club than us and hopefully we will be in the same division next year.
I guess money talks and he was offered better wages

Threlkeld now, Sawyer when fit? And for all we know, Adams has a replacement lined up as we speak. With all the extra income recently, something tells me that Adams would have been consulted over this one.

This is an unusual one as Rotherham appear to be a club in turmoil and on the way to relegation. This does not appear to be a good career move for Ben and surely there will be better alternatives for him in the future. However,I do appreciate that increased wages and length of contract may play a large part in this decision

However, the main aim for Argyle has to get out of this Division this season and with all the additional income received recently surely Argyle do not have to sell. This sale if it takes place will not help the push for promotion

Billy Palfrey and/or Jack Calver would be ready replacements.

Weren't we linked with an ex-Ross County left back a couple of weeks ago with a surname like Cliky or something? Or am I completely imagining this?

Erik Cikos? Although he is a right back and left Ross County last week to "pursue an exciting opportunity down south".

It wouldn't be a bad move for him at all. He'd get almost half a season, two levels up from where he is currently playing. He'd gain valuable experience and if he did well he would only enhance his prospects regardless of the eventual fate of his team. In the worst case scenario (relegation) he would still be guaranteed to play at a level higher than now, presumably on quite a lot more money. And he wouldn't have to stay there forever...

That was the one. I part remembered correctly, just not the name or the right side!

If threkheld plays left who plays right?

Sokolik has previously played at right back. Besides, Sawyer has been in the squad for the last few games so must be fit.

I dont know much about Rotherhams' set up these days, but, 11points adrift at the bottom of the Championship, sub 10K crowds (?) , 650K is a bit of desperate gamble on a young L2 player or an indication of perhaps where things are going wrong.

Good luck to him if this is a rumour that turns out to be true, but Id would like to think his immediate future was a little rosier.

Personally i'm amazed that Ben might be considering this move and that Rotherham might be considering paying £650,000 for him , not because i don't rate Ben , more because that is a lot of money for a club in Rotherham's precarious position to be giving to a caretaker ? manager to sign a League 2 full back who has potential but limited experience , even if they are looking toward next season it still seems a lot of money for a player in that position. With regards to Ben , if he wants to move on and step up to the Championship , i would imagine that staying here and playing regularly in a potential promotion winning team would improve his prospects of achieving that aim next season , should he choose to move on in the summer.Moving to Rotherham is likely to make that a short lived experience unless he moves on again in the summer .

Should Ben leave , we do have an immediate replacement , Gary Sawyer has been on the bench for the last 3 games , what we won't have is specialist competition for the left back role , especially with Oscar needed at right back , however up until hearing the news that Ben may leave we wouldn't have needed any more cover than we currently have , should the transfer happen , i would expect DA to have a back up plan , maybe the lad Wyjnaldum who was reportedly training with us , someone like Shane Griffin at Reading on loan or possibly someone already at the club whom our manager believes has the required attributes and ability to fulfil that role .

Doc , the player you're thinking of is Erik Cikos, i believe he is a right sided defender although that would give DA the option of moving Oscar across to the left.
