No humble pie here. I'm happy for him but the simple fact is he didn't do it for us.

Thing is though he actually did. Would I really have put five pound of my money if he was poor????

Like I keep saying his close control and power and speed was tremendous. But he was basically our attack.

Not getting my hopes up but 405 quid could be coming my way.

That video shows how much they love him.

Not having that, he always gave 100% for us.

Like SMIAL has said, he always had the talent he was just often left isolated up front when he played for us.
Yeah well, that's just, ya know, like, your opinion, man.

Totally agree with that. Was never really the same,in my opinion, after all the transfer speculation in January.

I agree about lets forget him.

Although 1 last comment, Steve Claridge the p**** just said that goal is the difference from when you were playing in a struggling team last year...

Same goal that Jamie made from absolute nothing :?

He didn't though, 8 goals is poor. His goals per game record, poor. He didn't even have an impressive GPG at Exeter!

I'm happy for the lad, we've got a good deal, QPR got a good deal, Mackie is happier, by the end of the season you might be a lot happier too :)

I hope so :)

You cant judge his play and ability on GPG. Cole never scored for England, Shearer only won one major trophy.

You might not of seen his ability in green but why the hell would I put £5 on someone that got relegated who is competing with the likes of Chopra, Earnshaw, etc etc.

The lad has it.

Jamie Mackie, Colin and the Queens, and coaching

I have to confess to be being a bit bemused by JM's recent success. We saw enough of Mackie in two years to know his strengths and weaknesses. I would summarise them as:

Assets: hard work, reasonable pace, directness, never say die attitude.

Weaknesses: poor first touch, plays with head down and doesn’t see options, lacks any composure in front of goal.

Yet, he scored a second goal on Saturday which was the very definition of composure. What does this mean as I always thought you couldn’t teach such things, and he was too old to develop a better touch? I think you can learn to play with your head up through good coaching (Steven Hunt , Wolves and ex-Reading, is a good example of a player who learned this and improved hugely). Butt Mackie is 25 and that is normally regarded as too late to improve your touch, and composure in front of goal (I thought anyway) was a natural asset that cannot be coached into someone who just does not possess it.

I accept totally that Colin's Queens have players like Taraabt who create things for him in a manner that they never were at Argyle, but nonetheless I would have expected him to waste most of these chances.

So what is the secret? Is it a lucky streak? Something in the water in London W12? Or does Colin possess striker-coaching skills which Mariner does not and perhaps should have?
