Argyle did beat Fulham 3-1 at Craven Cottage in March 82. Megson was long gone though. He had spent two years at Everton and by March 82 was beginning his path to legendary status, following in his dad Don's footsteps at Hillsborough as a player and much later, manager.

He must have had a great game somewhere else.

He had many great games for Argyle. Made his debut at 18 and played getting on for a hundred games in his three seasons at Argyle. A product of the great youth system that produced Martin Hodge and David Phillips amongst others. Not sure of any other time when Argyle produced three future top flight players in quick succession. We also got a good fee for him from Everton - £250k. Would be great if Argyle had a ball winning midfielder as good as him now. Mind you, he was famously described by Brian Clough as being unable to 'trap a bag of cement'. Harsh!

Lovely ground with incredible character. It does sometimes lack a bit of atmosphere though. Went to an evening kick-off when I was back in the UK recently and it was full of groups of yuppy city types on a night out as much as was football fans.

It's similar with the T20 nights at the Oval and Lords. Seems to just be one massive public school old boys reunion with limited interest in the cricket.

Well T20 is not cricket!
