If every team uses data analysis then it provides no competitive advantage.

Everyone has access to the data, the competitive advantage comes from its effective utilisation.

Ultimately, every signing represents a risk for a number of reasons.

Data analysis only reports on a series of match-related statistics which are indicative on an individuals performance on the pitch, but it can't tell you if a player will be the same player when he moves to the other end of the country into a new environment.

Interesting article about Barnsley, particularly their reliance on data analysis.

I thought Barnsley’s strategy of not bringing in loan players unless they intended to buy them was something we should consider adopting ..
