Keep with him.

He made errors which is all part of learning.

They will analyse the errors and the important thing is learning from them. That’s how you develop and gain experience.

He’s young and still learning more and more each match.

Instead of trying to castrate him after each error why not try to support and encourage his development. Confidence is a massive factor in a young persons career.

Errors are only part of learning if sufficient ability is there in the first place, Tugboat. On yesterday's evidence no amount of experience is going to get Cooper up to the required level. He just doesn't have 'it'.

Wonder how many other goalies who kept a clean sheet yesterday have come in for such criticism? Wonder how many who let in a few or more have been so criticised? Coops was given a real challenge yesterday by a wily, no-nonsense manager. He came through it without serious damage, maybe not with flying colours, but OK for a lad learning his trade in a difficult environment. He doesn't deserve some of the negativity he's getting on here.

Without the insult, but Balham is right here. That was his first mare of the season. There have been small errors in other games, which frankly id expect McCormick to make as well, as well as pretty much any keeper in League 1. A bit of perspective please, its League 1 and he's still only 21. He has plenty enough about him to make it at this level and higher in the future if he applies himself. Shot-stopping and distribution are already League 1 level, and his command of area, whilst dodgy, is nowhere near as bad normally as it was yesterday, nor is it as bad as a Macey/Gilamartin or even a Letheran. No one should choose to base an opinion on one game, the worst he's had this season. Overall, he's been plenty good enough.

I'll reply to this rather than to Mr Belligerent, but it was only his first mare of the season because Gillingham were the first team to repeatedly cross the ball into the box.

It's not rocket science.

Gills did this more than most, granted, but plenty of other teams have put a lot of crosses / long corners into the box - such as Bristol Rovers. The goals we conceded from those were due to the defenders not winning their headers, nothing to do with Cooper.

I haven't been on PASOTI for long but whilst agreeing that everyone is entitled to an opinion i am already getting rather
cheesed off at some of of the crazy backbiting and slagging off that goes on from certain people particularly when most have
probably never played the game at any real level.
The criticism of our young keeper is typical of some who perhaps get great pleasure in trying to help destroy the the careers of young home grown players coming through.
In the case of Cooper i have watched every match so far and whilst he is far from perfect i can see a gradual improvement in his game - yes he had a shocker yesterday and can really take no credit for the clean sheet as we should have been beaten by a couple of goals but lets get behind him.
We should be concentrating on why in nearly every game so far we spend long periods chasing the opposition and have had to ride our luck to come away with quite a few of the points we have got
