Updated after 13th April fixtures. Luton, Barnsley, Sunderland and Portsmouth all have confirmed their place in the play-offs. As for the lower half of the table? I don't like it one bit...

Updated after 19th April fixtures. Luton, Barnsley, Sunderland, Portsmouth and Charlton all have confirmed their place in the play-offs - the battle for the automatic promotion places is pretty hot between the top four. Bradford are relegated but then it could be any three of eight teams in my opinion (I think Bristol Rovers and Shrewsbury are safe).

I've been saying the same thing for weeks now - I think we just need one win and the sooner we get it the better. The problem is that the weeks keep slipping by and we have become utterly incapable of winning a game. It would be just like Argyle to beat Barnsley on Easter Monday - we can but live in hope...

Updated after Easter Monday fixtures. It's Doncaster, Peterborough or (just possibly) Coventry for the final play-off place and then 3 of Walsall, Wimbledon, Scunthorpe, Argyle, Southend, Accrington, Wycombe, Shrewsbury, Bristol Rovers and Rochdale to go down with Bradford, although I think that, in reality, it is 3 from the first 6 of those teams (5 if Accrington win their game in hand tonight). There are still a lot of games between the bottom sides...

Walsall play Peterborough (H) then Shrewsbury (A)
Wimbledon play Luton (A) then Wycombe (H) then Bradford (A)
Scunthorpe play Bradford (H) then Argyle (A)
Argyle play Accrington (A) then Scunthorpe (H)
Southend play Rochdale (A) then Sunderland (H)
Accrington play Doncaster (A) then Argyle (H) then Portsmouth (A)
Wycombe play Wimbledon (A) then Fleetwood (H)
Shrewsbury play Coventry (A) then Walsall (H)
Bristol Rovers play Fleetwood (A) then Barnsley (A)
Rochdale play Southend (H) then Charlton (A)

If anyone's looking for the slightest crumb of comfort, just think that despite our Manager, dismal run and the catastrophic Easter Weekend, we still have a slim chance of playing one of Barnsley, Portsmouth or Sunderland again next Season.

Regardless of the Crowd / Budget arguments !

A very unlikely scenario, but here goes...

We draw both our games 0-0 (unlikely I know)... Walsall win both of their games 3-1... Scunthorpe don't win their other game, Wimbledon don't win either game and Southend get at least 2 points from their final games.

That'd leave both us and Walsall joint 20th with 49 points, identical goals scored and against, and an identical head to head record (a 2-1 win apiece).

Relegation playoff, anyone?

Interesting scenario. Doesn't it go to disciplinary record (eg reds/yellows) as a tie breaker?

Updated after the two games on 23rd April. Its probably 3 from 5 to join Bradford in League 2 now although I don't think Wycombe, Shrewsbury and Bristol Rovers can relax entirely quite yet.

The remaining fixtures for the bottom sides are now:

Accrington play Argyle (H) then Portsmouth (A)
Rochdale play Southend (H) then Charlton (A)
Bristol Rovers play Fleetwood (A) then Barnsley (H)
Shrewsbury play Coventry (A) then Walsall (H)
Wycombe play Wimbledon (A) then Fleetwood (H)
Southend play Rochdale (A) then Sunderland (H)
Argyle play Accrington (A) then Scunthorpe (H)
Wimbledon play Wycombe (H) then Bradford (A)
Scunthorpe play Bradford (H) then Argyle (A)
Walsall play Peterborough (H) then Shrewsbury (A)

[Bold = team in the relegation mix, Underline = team in the promotion mix with something critical to play for]

Argyle are the only team in League 1 to have lost their last 4 games (no-one has lost their last 3 and only Shrewsbury and Doncaster have lost their last 2). Argyle also hae the worst points haul from their last 5 games along with Walsall and Bradford (1 point from 15) with Scunthorpe next worst with 2 points.

Just noticed Rovers are away to Fleetwood then home to Barnsley last game ..... a strong possibility of zero points there - so they aren't out of it. Now that would make me laugh (as long as we survive of course).

One thing is certain - it will all be a little clearer after Saturday's games!
