League 2...would it be that bad?

I remember when we fell through the leagues before - almost a decade ago - people would say 'we might actually be good at a lower level' and invariably, we were terrible and it took us 6 years to get out of the basement division last time. It would be a disaster and set us back years.

it will be a disaster as we will lose against scunny.the senior players,in the main, showed nothing against barnsley and evidently the same spineless performance against accy. :furious:

Of course it won't be that bad. After the anger and disappointment subsides acceptance creeps in. Then hope and sometimes excitement.

I don't want relegation but there's more important things to worry and stress about.

We're just a lower league team that sometimes gets to the Championship, no point demanding or expecting any different. That's my experience of 35 years following Argyle.

There is no way Exeter City will get promoted and be in a higher league than us.

Since they sold Stockley to PNE they are 1-0 merchants at best. They won’t beat FGR on Saturday and if Newport win tonight they will be out the play offs.

Having said all that we have become a byword for under achieving mismanagement. :furious:

It won't be good in any way if we go down, BUT... things change so quickly in football, it seems like yesterday Luton were in the Conference.

One thing is for sure, it is definitely better to be in League 2 with the grandstand done, than League 1 with a few more years of crumbling facilities.

Relegation is never positive.

For the sake of momentum (currently momentum lost), it is vital we are in League One next season in order to have a feel good factor around the opening on the revamped grandstand.

We're only talking about staying in the 3rd Division. When did that become a 'nice to have' for PAFC?!

Plymouth Argyle in League 2..... who would want to come and manage us and what players could we attract for an immediate return?
Plymouth Argyle in League 1..... who sees this as a better prospect than an ailing club in the lowest EFL division? could we attract a good standard of player compared to the lower level?
I can see us with Holloway as manager and he builds a strong and attacking team, he will get us promoted from League one but he certainly wouldn't entertain a League two team.
Relegation between the two lower divisions is never a great idea, from the Premier league you'll have a pot of money to console yourselves with, from the Championship you have very high earners you need to get rid of, from League one you have players not good enough to go up but too good for League two.
What do we hope for?
I think we need a Holloway to bring in the good players to get us up and rocking, filling the stadium and cementing our place in the Championship where we build for the longer term future. We need to be in the Championship, we need to be realistic and establish ourselves there and to be honest be content with our lot.
Yes we have a history of being lower league, but with the catchment, the better links between us and the rest of the country we should be able to get the players we need on reasonable wages and being a relatively successful Championship club.
