Was it just me or did Tony Cascarino always score against us for the Gills!?

I had same thought, pretty sure he scored for them in the 1-1 draw up there in March 1986, when Kevin summerfield equalised at the start of what became the push up the table for promotion.

Remember it. Freezing cold Tuesday night and last minute equaliser.

Well I was there so I guess that backs up my Cascarinophobia! Just one of those players who had a key for our lockers!!

It was bleddy cold! if I remember rightly, they'd been clearing snow off the pitch and match had been in doubt earlier in the day?

A weird one.....Tony Cascasino played for a local village here in NW Kent.....cost Gillingham some training gear to get his signature....just looked him up to remind myself... talk about rags to riches....moved on to Millwall, Celtic, Chelsea, Marseille among other clubs...and scored 248 goals.....you don't find players like that anymore.

Bleddy awful place Gillingham - awful town and hated the ground - the away end with plastic flooring and plastic seats - open to the rain and gales and we always played poo and lost - just terrible memories of that place.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned their repulsive manager yet. A most awful loud mouth who somehow, given his past, has stayed in the game

Lived there for a year in the early 70's, awful, the Medway Towns leave a lot to be desired that's for sure.

Gravesend - Kent
Like you IJN I had the misfortune to live in Chatham in the 70s and I can tell you that today it hasn't changed one bit. I live only 10 miles away in Gravesend and Gravesham is like heaven compared to the squalor of the Medway towns.

Was the mis-spelling of his surname a Freudian slip, given his attainment of riches? You forgot to say he was also an Irish International now making money for himself by writing topical side notes on players and games in The Times.

When I started my career at sea, all British Seafarers either started at Gravesend if you were a lad or one of the officer colleges, I went to Warsash in Southampton. Once you had done your first stint at college it was out into the big world.
Had a call from my office to join a ship out in New Zealand, great news as a 16 year old apprentice. Just before flying out I had another call to say that the ship had to sail early and instead join a coaster in Rochester. For 6 months I was in and out of that awful place. I walked down the gangway after the trip had ended and swore I’d never go to the Medway again. 34 years later and not been back. Never will.

I have lived all over the world and visited some very 'modest' places, but Chatham is without doubt the most decrepit hovel I have ever set foot in.

Because as you say its in the past. He's certainly calmed down now. All clubs have had shall we say "characters " Argyle certainly no exception, I should know I met enough of them
