EFL proposal is for promotion, relegation and play-offs to happen based on unweighted points per game.
L2 have already agreed to it, Championship hope to play out the season as 'normal', and more than half of L1 will vote for it. Only Bolton, Peterborough, Sunderland, Ipswich, and a couple of others want to play on... so they'll be outvoted.

EFL Board are just taking forever to sort this, but it will happen... final vote Monday week June 8th.. to confirm that Argyle are promoted!!!

Because L2 voted for PPG, the play-offs to happen and no relegation for Stevenage, that does seem to create a problem if L1 do same to protect Tranmere and only send Bolton and Southend down. Therefore only 3 up from L2, could mean Top 3 Automatic or Top 2 plus 1 from play offs.

You can’t change any automatic League placings in any League...Fact...and the EFL wouldn’t either....conspiracy theories are unbelievable.

Wonder how likely it is that L1 teams would vote for Palios recommendation though. Bearing in mind it would mean they would have to play on that non league standard bog of a pitch of theirs.

Palios is selectively saying that because his side had won their last 3 games their position is false. He forgets that they had also failed to win in their last three home games, losing two of them. Send em down boys. No way that pitch should be in EFL1. Or EFL2 for that matter. Absolute disgrace, whatever their excuses.

Getting back on topic why is this farce still continuing. We have been told L2 is finished with agreement all around and points per game. L1 and Championship have been told either play your games or same scenario applies.

Argyle are promoted. Lets start thinking about L1 if indeed football starts next season with or without supporters and stop these ifs and buts, because there simply aren't any. We're promoted and Ryan Lowe has two back to back promotions and fair play to him

Because L2 voted for PPG, the play-offs to happen and no relegation for Stevenage because there is the possibility that they could have escaped from that relegation position.

If the EFL apply the same to L1 then Tranmere would have to receive the same reprieve as Stevenage which would mean only three promotion places from L2. Two automatic and one via play-offs. Whilst that is still a possibility the GA can't be 100% sure that third place means promotion. It could mean play-offs and a possible winner takes all final against Exeter.

It would be VERY controversial to scrap the Automatic promotion places and have the 3rd team play in the play-offs.
The whole League system is set up to have THREE Automatic promotion places, that should still stand.
Just forget the play-offs, completely.

Ha, that would be very controversial too, especially with the Urns. I suppose we could live with it though. :funny:

Will the latest announcement from the Government change anything for Argyle and the 2nd Division?

Now they have given the EFL the option to play games behind closed doors.

Anything remains possible because only 37 games have been played. The only thing written in stone is for League Two is three automatic promotion places AFTER everyone has played 46 games.

Whatever the final decision, it cannot be what was originally set out at the beginning of the season unless the games are actually played. If they can change the number of games then don't assume they can't change the number of promotion places.

why is everyone bringing up all these scenarios , they efl league have already said there will be promotion and relegation, to keep the integrity of the pyramid system in the football league, they just need to vote whether to play out season or points system,

I think the EFL board have said there will be promotion and relegation but this now needs to be agreed by a majority of the 71 clubs (including at least 13 from the Championship). This is the vote on June 8th. If the clubs agree with the EFL board's proposal each division will vote separately on how to end the season, either by playing or ppg. If the clubs don't agree with the EFL board it's back to more discussions which could mean changes regarding promotion and relegation.

Finally someone grasps the nettle here. It was hard work.
Argyle are promoted its as simple as that. How the other leagues work out final positions is up to them but it has zero effect on PAFC

BBC Sport reporting that the 4 teams behind us in the PPG league table have all been tested for Covid-19. This suggests to me that’ll leave us automatically promoted with Crewe and Swindon and the 4 tested teams fight it out in the play offs ?

The delay with L1 is less about the relegations and more about Peterborough et al wanting to fight for a play off place.

The options presented to them is either PPG or play. It should be very easy for the EFL proposal to pass (whole of L2, maybe minus Stevenage/Macclesfield, plus whole of Championship who have already decided to play), it's only really the half dozen or so teams in L1 holding up the vote.

It'll pass, it'll then be down to L1 to decide to play or not (probably end up as a not as only 6 teams want to) and it'll be job done.

Just a matter of time now, Argyle will be in L1 next season.

To be fair its completely possible that we're about to be promoted from a division that will not be in existence in the not too distant future with the amount of clubs facing extinction.
