As an unashamed Man U supporter for many, many years - those I have watched live -

George Best - took Palace apart at Selhurst Park in a romping win.

Paul Scholes - what a dynamo, could do everything - apart from tackle !!!

Glenn Hoddle - what a left foot and vision.

Bryan Robson - a great leader of club and country.

Norman Whiteside - the "new" Duncan Edwards at OT, scored THAT goal v Everton in the FA Cup Final - then nothing !

Keep the Faith :scarf:

I never knew Hoddle played for United Paul!

You learn something new every day on here!

Wasn't Moore pulled off at halftime? The 'Mariner' Effect? :nworthy:

I was at that game. United won 5-3, Best scored twice and Denis Law got a hat trick.

My memory has never forgotten these five players

Roger Byrne
Eddie Colman
Duncan Edwards
Tommy Taylor
Bobby Charlton

I watched them on Feb 1st 1958....days later four of them were dead.

Ok I've seen players that were probably better then some in that list.....Stanley Matthews...Dennis Law...George Best...Gordon Banks... Peter Shilton the list could go on.

But as an 18 year old I suddenly realized that life was not guaranteed.

But those five Man U players were etched into my memory for a long time and one still is.

Living in SW19 at the time [or SW17], a quick drive over Mitcham Common into Norwood.

The Best game, I remember [rightly ?], the pitch was like a ploughed field but he glided over the surface like a ballerina ?

Nobody got near him.

What a player.

How lucky I was.

Keep the Faith :scarf:
