I would have thought the club will be working on 2 shortlists, one for the Championship and one for League one. Similar to what they will be doing for budgets for next season. A manager with a promotion on his cv is a must in my book.

Before we look at individuals we have to remember the criteria. Amongst others that were used last time.
Plays attacking football
Develops young players
Excellent with media
Modern / empathetic in approach to players and families

Who has these?

It’ll be interesting to see what happens with Mowbray and Rowett, considering both are technically employed by Birmingham at the moment.

Wild wouldn’t take it. He wants to stay up north. He moved Barrow’s training ground to Manchester in part so it was easier for him to commute.

Looking in Cornwall could be very successful - Lots of good managers here !
Good point, well made. I deliberately didn't rule out anyone from west of the Tamar, but I am now getting behind my other snap decision that we need the Spanish Ryan Lowe, whomever that might be.

Michael Duff and Nigel Pearson are two that spring to mind, but as someone else has said it massively depends on what league we're in. I would also be keen on a foreign coach. Someone based in the Arctic Circle in some Norwegian club that knows the challenges of being a bit of an out-post.

I do, however, think that Duff would accept Argyle in League 1
