The 'real' capital of Devon
Final word to Mr John Sheridan.

At signing players you have shown you can do the job. You've assembled a bloody good group of players who should be right near the top of this division. But sadly they aren't, because at every other aspect of management you are a failure. 9th in the league with this group of players is not good enough at all. You have no solutions to the clear problems this team has - defending set pieces, taking set pieces, movement off the ball, decision making in the final third, playing players in their correct position, making subs. It's all rubbish. Your only solution is to sign another player, rather than sort out what is already here.

I've had enough. Sheridan out.[/quote]

Couldn't have put it better myself.

Can't handle another season in league 2 which is what we're heading for with our current mediocre part time manager.

Absolute crap, yet again. Sheridan out.

McCormick - 7 - Did well for the half he was on. Dodgy kicking at times, but a good double save.

Nelson - 8 (MotM) - Good. Like his frustrated runs to try to show up the inadequacy of our attackers.
McHugh - 7 - Sometimes caught on the ball but generally solid. He's really intelligent at using his body to shield away opposition attackers.
Flanagan - 4 - Poor. Why on god's green earth did Sheridan play him as a screening midfielder after Brunt came on? He's not very comfortable on the ball as a centre-back, at all.

Mellor - 5 - Did have a few decent moments but he's just been far far far too hesitant lately.
Cox - 5 - Why is he being played as an advanced midfielder??
Lee - 4 - He can pick out good passes but he's too often so careless with the ball. He's a very similar player to Norburn, but from what I've seen, not as good.
Bobby Reid - 6 - Tries things, enthusiastic, and can pick out some very good balls. Didn't really come off for him, especially second half.
Purrington - 5 - Didn't give the ball away much, but he too often chooses the safe option and was slow up and down the line.

Reid - 6 - Well-taken goal. Lacked a bit of finesse but it was an improvement from recent games.
Alessandra - 5 - Nuisance, but no end product.

SUBSTITUTES:
Bittner - 5 - Didn't think he did anything wrong as such but he just seems to me like a liability.
Brunt - 6 - Got stuck in, tried really hard. Total mixed bag in terms of end product though.
Thomas - 6 - Good, but brought on too late. Not gutless.

Disappointing result.
So this is progress under Sheridan?not far off the same points and league position at this time last year with a supposedly better team... Playing players out of position and asking them to do things there not capable of.Sheridan's clueless and blames his players,I watched him blast Mellor then lee today and you could see the confidence drain from them.
Move over JS cause we've got a great chance of promotion with this team and your going to mess it up.

Sheridan is not leaving chaps. I can't see it happening and to be honest I still don't think he's doing as bad a job as some make out. Easy for me to say though I suppose as I don't get to many games.

1) A positive looking 6 on the bench but no place for the injured Blizzard, Morgan, Richards or Harvey. Injured or all the latter 3 off? Brunt would make his debut from the bench if he comes on. Blizzard for Bobby Reid the only change to the starting 11.

2) Argyle started well and deserved the lead at the break although much of the possession was passed around behind the statuesque R Reid. Alessandra had an especially wasteful half always trying to tun into his man rather than play the simple lay-off.

3) Bobby Reid looked full of ideas despite the lack of movement ahead of him. Unfortunately he struggled to deliver on his plans and gave the ball away frequently.

4) Injuries to Mellor and McCormick disrupted the play and Reid found the net in the following injury time. Bittner replaced McCormick at half-time following an injury to Luke's hand in a challenge he possibly shouldn't have had to make - I thought the Morecambe forward was off-side.

5) Argyle lost the lead early in the second with yet another goal conceded from a corner. It looked like poor marking again.

6) With 15 to go Brunt replaced Lee and we switched to 4-3-3 with Flanagan moving into midfield - why not Nelson? At least it was a positive move. With time running out Cox was replaced by Thomas. Positive again.

7) Brunt looked OK. Both Reid's had reasonable games but we're still missing something. The side lacked urgency and we just couldn't find a decent final ball.

8 ) Argyle struggled to penetrate again. Mellor looked injured and Purrington simply not enough attack minded. Alessandra had a poor game.

9) Yet another low away turnout but at least they brought a drum. Now we wait on injuries and the possible arrival of a loan 'keeper. How many loanees can we play at one time??

Luke McCormick - 7
Kelvin Mellor - 5
Curtis Nelson - 7
Carl McHugh - 7
Tom Flanagan - 5
Ben Purrington - 6
Lee Cox - 5
Olly Lee - 6
Bobby Reid - 7
Lewis Alessandra - 4
Reuben Reid - 6

Substitutes:
James Bittner - 5
Aaron Bentley - unused
Oliver Norburn - unused
Jason Banton - unused
Nathan Thomas - 5
Ryan Brunt - 6

7 sums it up perfectly

I've seen Olly Lee play two matches but I've already come to a judgement, he works hard but he's a poor footballer. Not being able to pass the ball a few yards isn't down to fitness but just down to being inept. I also think he drags Cox's game down. I've been informed by many Birmingham fans that he was only signed because Lee Clarke is best buds with Lee's dad. Norburn & Blizzard are both better footballers.

1-0 up at home. Sub goalie coming on. Think 'another' should definitely be on the agenda, not rocket science is it?

Also, protect your sub keeper, especially early on, no unnecessary corners or free kicks?

Your probably right Matt but he just doesn't make the right tactical changes when the team needs direction wether that's making a sub or formation.
Just clueless.

Doesnt make sense. Do you want to protect your keeper or go for 'another'? Make your mind up.

You just like trying to wind people up don't you!!

Thing is old boy that you score at one end and defend at the other, don't have to do both at the same time, simplistic but true ;)

Not quite that easy.

If you want to protect your keeper then you sit deeper and defend, If you want to attack then you commit players forward exposing the our defence.

Fwiw i think we have enough about ourselves to push for that second goal but we just seem incapable to get a decent run of possession and passes together.

Today was boring. Slow, dull and no ideas. At one point in the first half we had a break down the right, they had 5 players in a line on the six yard box. Our players cuts down the right, looks to cross, and we have two players stood on the edge of the box. No thought of getting in the box to try and score once the winger had got in behind. Useless. We look steady enough, we knock it round nice enough but it's so slow. If this side wins promotion ill eat my hat. Can't see it myself. This must be one of the lowest scoring sides we've had. So many games where we score nil or 1. Today's highlight.....Two lads scrapping in the Lyndhurst. Says it all.
