I think there's a bit more steel this season....first win at Cambridge today for 21 years. Usually lose there. Okay, the Yeovil defeat was a poor result, but the conditions on the night were a leveller. I I don't fee as concerned as this time last year. Aside from Doncaster and Exeter, no-one is really winning consistently....this time last season several teams were putting together a run....

We currently have 51 points from 25 games.

Last season we had 52 points from 25 games, but having won the previous four games it was from this point that the rot set in.

In the final 21 games of the season our record was

Won 8
Drew 5
Lost 8

Giving us 29 points from the last 21 games, an average of 1.38 points per game.

Coincidentally, in 2001/2 and 2003/4 we were also on 52 points after 25 games. We went on to gain another 50 points in 2001/2 and 38 points in 2003/4.

Correct and if we match that Historically 28 points will gain automatic, we need 81 points , thats the average for 3rd the last 20 seasons

We now have the squad strength for going up as champions. I can imagine that some Oxford, Shrewsbury, Southend and Cardiff supporters are questioning the decisions to release Taylor, Sarcevic, Sokolik and Kennedy (on loan).

If we fall short and only finish 3rd, so be it but I am sure that is DA's message to his squad.

I am absolutely certain Derek wants the title, It is a big Family friend he is up against its like playing football manager on-line for him except in real life.
It is going to be an epic battle as Donny are a good side too but I think we may have the weapons to actually attack and go for teams and dictate play rather than keeping tight and hitting on the break. \mightily impressed with the way Derek has re-shaped his squad this time, think he learnt his lesson about strengthening from a position of strength last season when we didn't do it.
Down side for me is that as an exile it looks like I may struggle for tickets after already managing nine away this season

Surely, the average points total achieved for 3rd place is irrelevant. We need to be looking at average points for 4th then +1 point. Get back to me when someone's worked that out please.

Getting one more point than the average team who finished fourth would generally see you finish fourth. It is third place you look at.

Last season in the 7 matches, numbers 30 to 36 we only got 9 points, which is the period that probably cost us promotion.

Say the average for 3rd place over the last 20 years was 85 points & the average for 4th was 80; then 81 points, generally, will be enough to see you promoted.......or am I being thick? (Which is probably the case).
