It's not about what paper you read, it's about questioning what you read and engaging with it critically. It's not about the great unwashed, it's about not taking diatribe, opinion and polemic as fact. As you say, they all peddle something. That's true whether you read one type of paper or another. I read papers of a different political point of view to mine as well as those that I have sympathy with. Know thine enemy and all that... and sometimes, it's a healthy check on what you assume to be right. The problem these days is that with social media buzfeed crap people only end up looking at (often fake) news that supports their own little world view. So we end up in little camps that don't engage with each other, and with more extreme and intolerant views as a consequence. Kids should be taught how to critically engage with news at school these days.
It's not just a Leftie thing though to find the DM objectionable. (There are posters on this very thread I'm sure would be quite annoyed to be labelled 'Leftie' who recoil at that rag). I heard this week that Wikipedia have now stopped allowing the DM to be used as source material in their attempt to stop Fake news stories........says it all.justanotherfan":3iyu4w66 said:Welcome to the Socialist Republic of PASOTI.

Unwarranted, the Tory press at that time used his appearance to beat him with a stick. It's been well documented that the coat he wore was an expensive present from his wife. It was obviously not his intention to dishonour anyone.
Anyway - let's stick to footie.

Not mention that coat was complemented by the Queen Mother I believe! (Not that I wish to get political, but today you see your Corbyn attacked for sending condolences to the McGuiness family but the same reports do not say that PM May and the Queen have also done so similar!)
If he had more sway I don't believe we would have ever gotten in this mess, no matter who was involved, he would have been against the ground being sold out from PCC. That is my main reason against the ground being sold back to JB. I know what MF judgement would be and I know I trust his judgement (the same judgement that saw me back British withdrawal from the EU.) Foot is an hero of mine, even when you disagree with him, I still can see and understand his arguments, I wish he was still alive to be on our board and if nothing else, he is the reason why we have PPE, the amount of time off et al, basic rights, as minister for employment, bringing in HASAWA 74 . The man deserves respect IMO! :nworthy: :nworthy:
