He was hopeless.

Aimson’s goal should have stood, Mayor should have had a penalty, and Cheltenham should have had a lot more yellows & potentially then reds.

Usually I’d say something the ref was poor but not at fault for the defeat, but on this occasion, he had a big impact.

Supports Exeter apparently and it showed. Far too lenient, missed at least three cautions in the first half and a clear cut penalty for a foul on Mayor I think.

I thought he started well and knew the new rule for the ball hitting him. However he did not know the new rule about leaving the pitch at the nearest point! Booked a player for a bad foul but then let loads go. Spoke to the captain, said no more and two minutes later another foul and no punishment. He also never punished time wasting.

I usually give the benefit of the doubt to the refs but this one was atrocious. If he had booked players in the first half who deserved it, Cheltenham would have lost one and perhaps two players in the second half. Our goal was good. He waved away a good penalty. He allows players to twice leave to the dugouts rather than directing them to their nearest touch line. Useless and probably cost us the game as if he had got just a couple of those correct, the game may have taken a different turn.
