I would agree, but we're only talking about the badge. Though there too I would have 'Plymouth Argyle'.

To take the Accrington Stanley example mentioned, they do have the full name on the badge but very often identify themselves as just Stanley...

Yes, fair enough but that sign is in Accrington. Like, if it was HP, we could put 'This is Argyle'.
It is away from Accrington & Plymouth that you need to use the 'full' name.

Yep I agree, just playing devils advocate :)

I would say that if we had ‘Plymouth Argyle’ on the badge we wouldn’t need ‘Football Club’ after it.

The scroll from the choices.

Although ideally I'd actually prefer a return to the Plymouth City coat of arms the Mayflower is what we're identified with. There should be a scroll, but only because there has always been one.

What it says though doesn't matter that much. No-one reads words on club badges, the most identifiable are identifiable by their form, pictorially not through words. After all so many include Latin phrases and no-one understands Latin (cue defensive former scholars of Latin  )

So PAFC, Plymouth Argyle, Argyle?, I'm easy on that.
