Nice man, he always came across up here as thinking he was too big for them. Could you imagine Peter Reid supporting a petition to wind Argyle up ?
It's great to see him doing such a good job at Southend.

Macclesfield, Bury, Southend and Billericay all face winding up petitions in court tomorrow.

Macc case adjourned to 18th December

Sol owed £180,000.

Sol Campbell: Former Macclesfield boss backs winding-up petition against club -

£180k? At Macclesfield? That’s utterly ridiculous. He was only there for a few months wasn’t he?
If he wasn't paid at all, it works out at £18k a month.

Players refusing to play this weekend

Looks like youth players and loans will be used as they did in the FA cup

I’ve also just read this on the BBC. Players claim that regardless of non-payment of wages they are now emotionally as well as physically unready to play on Saturday. It’s becoming a farce, and unfair to other clubs. If their next opponents are able to easily beat a team of academy and reserve players, yet later in the season they are able to field a normal side, then results become a lottery depending on when you play them. It may sound harsh, but if they are damaging the credibility of the league then I think they should be expelled.

Have to agree with above.

Crewe are going to have a significant advantage over other teams (US!!) as to when they play them.

For the integrity of the league as a level playing field, it cannot be allowed to happen.

If they can't pay wages on time, they are technically insolvent.

You have to remember that during our troubles no one was paid for six months - but not once did we not field the strongest possible team that we had.

Interesting the the bookies have removed the Crewe V Macclesfield game from their lists.

That's because the players have contacted the media saying that contrary to rumours that the game will go ahead they can confirm that the game WILL NOT go ahead because A) They haven't been paid for the last month, B) they haven't trained since last Thursday (they have no training ground) and C) because of the mental well being of the players.
Yet the owner has, in the last hour, spoke to Talksport stating that the club is on a "sound financial footing". Deluded.

We came very close though, with the players very nearly striking for the game at Burton.

The same scenario has happened with Bolton most unfair ,teams were regularly putting four & five past them earlier in season, surely the EFL should step in in cases like this to ensure a level playing field!!

This.

If Crewe pip us to the third promotion place on GD because they thrashed Macclesfield's kids then it'll make a total mockery of the competition.

Funny how the Football League makes it difficult for clubs to field kids in their joke of a trophy, but has no such rule for one of their actual leagues!

The game should be postponed until Macclesfield's future is resolved one way or the other.

Wonder if you could claim 2 lots of expenses for going to court the same day with 2 different clubs?

There is. Not sure whether they would actually enforce it though.

In the event of the explanation not being deemed satisfactory the Board shall refer the matter to a Disciplinary Commission which has the power to impose such penalties as it shall think fit.

So 25 hours ahead of kick off and no confirmation game is on tomorrow. Relatively undisruptive to Crewe who can travel on day of game. But Argyle will not have that luxury ahead of game on 21st.

Will EFL show some real leadership here or just investigate and face the repeat of this situation again in future?
