My greatest memories of Argyle were Mariner and Rafferty playing together in stripes. Because of that, I like stripes.

Because of that I like Mariner and Rafferty, for me they could have played "au naturel" and they would still be my favourite duo.

What is wrong with having the AWAY strip we have now as the HOME strip?

IMHO some - not all obviously - of Argyle's problems is the green is to damn dark - lighten it up so the players can spot their team-mates quicker.

Aye are away form is wonderful this season, was remarkable how the team spot each other so well on Saturday.

Would be great to publish a New Book .....

“The History Of The Argyle Shirt”

I see Spurs are doing one to be released soon

Why would Spurs do that. Surely they'd publish a book on their own shirts !

But that's it exactly GA84, when do you ever see Spurs playing in anything other than a white shirt, or Liverpool and Man Utd playing in anything other than a red shirt or Arsenal playing in anything other than a red shirt with white sleeves!

The answer to the question about Spurs is 'before 1898'.

It's clear that fashions in kits change - Arsenal's white sleeves are thought to have been inspired by the groundsman wearing a white shirt under a sleeveless red sweater while mowing the pitch; Liverpool did not go into red shorts until 1964 - Chelsea went into all blue at about the same time, suggesting that coloured shorts had not been so readily available.

I like the two green and white kits but not the yellow one - I don't see any need for an Argyle kit (home or away) to have any colours others than green, black and white. I also prefer the socks to match the shirt and not the shorts - but that is just being fussy isn't it? The two kits at either side are excellent - so much better than this year's two.

The current shade of green at Argyle (from 2001) was chosen because it was thought to go well with blue denim in leisure wear. I always thought that the correct shade of Argyle green - used from after the Second World War until 2001 - albeit in various configurations - was Kelly green - helpfully modelled here:

It goes perfectly well with denim:

However, shades of green are obviously a specialist subject:
