" we're playing well with positivity and purpose", Knibbsworth are you actually attending games? We pass the balls sideways ,backwards and resort to hoofball. Without exception the opposition at Home Park this season make fewer passes at a quicker rate and outpace us.

I agree, it's OK passing sideways if done with speed. That's the idea to shift the angle of attack to open up spaces to feed in through and behind the defence. If it's slow and cumbersome passing just between the backs it's... a) dangerous, as we've found out to our cost already!! and b) unproductive since the defence just trots across 10 yards to cover a symmetrical situation. It's got to be done at pace with vision and instant control. If not you are best forward passing it for nod downs, and have wide men picking up the pieces but then you really more players in advanced positions and wider than we play. All season we seem stuck between a rock and a hard place with tactics. The same approach as last season relied heavily on a very solid back line which we had. We've not got that now. I think a major re-think of tactics an urgent need until we can draft in players in January who can operate that system, if we must play it! We could be looking serious relegation contenders else. We need to survive this transitional year with the ground redevelopment that's for sure. Whats the use of a ground we can't filll???

Our status is certainly better based than now. Historically Argyle have mainly featured in the middle 2 divisions, had never even been in the lowest tier of 4 until the 1990s. No reason to suggest we should be anywhere near there now. So we should be either a Championship team or a thriving 1st Division club. On reaching that status last season it's terribly sad to see us struggle so badly so far. It's important to not penny pinch and to back the manager with money or else it hugely backfires financially anyway. We don't seem to have effectively replaced Bradley, Vyner or Threlkeld. but there are only 9 games gone. If we stop conceding sloppy goals and score a few more we can definitely climb the league again. The best thing to do in football is to score more than the opposition. That gets points on the board. So if you can't defend well, let's attack well. Our best players such as Carey, Lameiras, Fox are the offensive players. We have to play to our strengths and stop absorbing pressure like last season.

Agree with your attack - always the better option, then relying on your defence - which we cant do at this moment in time.

Though the history of the Club and its history of "mainly featured in the middle 2 divisions" as no baring at all on the present situation. We are where we are and we have to be realistc and deal with the situation NOW and to be honest the situation at this moment is dire. All this rubbish about - what happened last year - and oh its going to happen again is green tints IMHO (not you Gariboldi). We are worse off even then last season - at least we had won our 2nd match of last season.
