4 offers on the table for a striker

I'm guessing, have no info specifically, on this one that we have bid real magic beans for someone.

It's not about transfer fees anymore as much agents and wages of course, most of which we don't find out until the annual round up is released. I believe Argyle have been top spenders on agent fees in the past, so some of this will be in lieu of paying a club.

On a related note, why doesn't the transfer window close at the start of the season- surely this would sort out the loan farce of clubs waiting until the end of the window and after a few games to sort things out?

Get John Akinde in and another Prem/Championship loanee striker in. Unfortuantely, the people who say wait until September to judge are missing the point. In todays market you cannot just watch other clubs snap up the talent, you have to act quickly and decisively. Else, come September the 1st we'll be scracthing our heads at who we can sign on a long-shot loan deal which may or may not be a choice that DA would like.

Where's the £1m transfer fee coming from? Not forgetting the 500k a year wages...

I'm sure Sharpy will stump a decent amount to start us off? If every PASOTI contributor puts in a few quid we should have the capital by midnight. Just to make sure, and bring us into the race for Coutinho, perhaps mods could set up a Crowdfunder, people will give silly amounts, especially if you link it to a vague "charitable" cause.

And... I'll stick a quid in plus my white membership, a few bits of hospitality and a random amount of spend on merchandise.

but we do have a fantastic training pitch.

I hope that wasn't meant to be sarcastic*. The training pitches at Harpers Park were a disgrace and this was a crucial and very welcome bit of investment.

*Apologies if not
They were hardly a "disgrace"!!!!!

They were a disgrace for pretty much any professional football club. That's been stated in so many words by players and management alike.

Training facilities have long been an achilles heel for Argyle, and lots of us were delighted to see them dramatically improved.

"We have also got a very poor training ground and so some money is being put into that.

"The training pitches will need additional work as well to bring them up to the standard that we think the team deserves.

"At the moment we are struggling with training facilities to be quite honest.

"What Derek (Adams) is doing with the team on the pitch, given the training surfaces we have got, is remarkable."

"I was astonished when I came down here that a club which had been in the Championship had only got two grass pitches that tended to get waterlogged during certain months of the year.

"They are basically just recreational pitches that you get in the park that have had a little bit better looking after.

"Well, that is not good enough. We have to have better surfaces than that.

I'd like to think Sharpy was on a wind up with those fantasy magic money tree suggestions. So to meet silly with silly was spot on Nick

On the flipside to all the training pitch stuff, I think it's fairly clear to everyone that the striker situation has not gone well at all.

I am surprised, given DA's meticulousness, that we're going to be at least three games into the season with only one unproven centre forward, and two recognised central midfield specialists (perhaps one with Ness unfit and Sarcevic spending most of his career further up the pitch).

I'd happily take a hit on the infastructure upgrade and use the 5m for player pull though.

Of course you would. It ain't your money and if the whole thing goes belly up then another white knight will come and pony up a few million to keep your dreams alive

Now that's a business plan we can all get behind

Can't even be bothered to list the many, many reasons why that's a ridiculous thing to say.

But we'll have a lovely stadium to host the abysmal lower league football though.
And a club that exists
And that right there shows the lack of ambition from some fans. If you don't push the boundaries sometimes then you'll never get anywhere.

Abysmal? We've just been promoted, we're on the way up footballing wise AND infrastructure wise. We are two games into this season, and the transfer window isn't closed yet. We will sign more players.

Go and support another club who are building houses on sand. We are putting long term foundations in place AND finding success on the pitch.

If we get relegated this season, a tiny smidgeon of your point may be valid. Until then, you're living in cloud cuckoo land. You are aware the £5m is only for the grandstand and infrastructure, that will in turn repay Simon Hallett's investment? It's not been given to us by SH to do whatever we want with.

Lack of ambition or measured sustainable progress that we've been experiencing?
People are too impatient. Look at the reaction after 2 games. Mental.
