This has been a weird week or so, think I enjoyed the posts more when there was just speculation and to be fair there seems to be still just peoples take on speculation albeit from some often reliable posters. But it wouldn't be PASOTI if there wasn't already a split in opinions on the speculation.

I'm as impatient as anyone and do think we need someone in place by the end of next week so we can get some new faces in for pre season

There was a deal. Maybe only verbally but a deal was done.

Lowe was expected to straight bat any predictable questions today. He is either very bad with the media or publically courting the Lincoln job. It seemed to surprise him to find out that we are not in League 1.

He either needs to walk it back very quickly or probably miss out on the biggest club he will ever get the chance to manage. Lincoln will go South when there money runs out....what then?
Where are the Cowleys going?

Linked with WBA job but so is Chris Hughton.

Looks like we all including Mr Haslett have had a lovely long walk down the garden path.
Leave Mr Lowe in his melodrama while Plymouth Argyle get serious and move to plan B.
Get real should be the thinking of all concerned and sign a competent Manager sooner than later. :furious:

This thread is mainly based on fiction and speculation.

There is absolutely no firm evidence that Lowe has been offered the Argyle manager job, let alone being first choice, second choice etc.

When Lowe joins, he will explain his "first division manager" remark by saying that Plymouth Argyle ARE a first division Club and should not have been relegated.

I really don't understand all this pouring out of firstly excitement that we will have a manager that has had one promotion because of his employer's large purse, and then all of a sudden there is total rejection because he doesn't want to be with us because he has said something that we have taken quite literally.

What will be, will be.

It's all the more intriguing with the ups and downs, but WE cannot do anything about it, just wait until an appointment is made.

Everything else is pure speculation and we all need to take a chill pill.

I wonder if there is the same level of rabid speculation, misinformation and assumption making on the WBA and Lincoln Forums as there is here.

Warren Joyce?
Hell. No.

He plays a significantly worse style of football than Adams.
He fell out with/ostracized his better players In his last job.
The fan-base, at his last club, could not stand him.

All sounds a little familiar.

No.

A thread full of speculation that fed off Bury’s agreement to let us talk to him, Alan Nixon’s ‘insider’ Twitter hints, and 3 posters’ ‘insights’ (Skynet, Saturday Service and PMPilgrim). Beyton Green’s insistence that there was no deal was obviously not considered as reliable by most - presumably because it was what people didn’t want to hear.

Now the last two pages are responding in outrage to the frankly ridiculous suggestion that Lowe didn’t know we were relegated.

Umm, seriously? When you say the biggest club he'll ever have the opportunity to manage, you are referring to Argyle? Plymouth Argyle? The club that has won barely anything in its history and spent zero minutes in the top division? That Plymouth Argyle?

Regardless of if he's offered the job or not the club needs to be putting a statement out now it's a full 7 days since any communication with fans and that was a chairman at a fans forum nothing official

Currently there are no player transfers no manager no kits to discuss and that is leading to this frenzy

It does appear that Derek was sacked without any plan B being in place

Most clubs who are on a sticky run like we were are actively considering what to do in the event of a change being required and dare I say even speaking with people off the record it does appear Argyle had no intention of sacking him bar a unconfirmed incident on the team bus and a lack of respect in talking to the press in a game which actually contributed the most to our relegation in the end !
Is everyone on holiday at HP? Use al this interest to get season ticket sales shirt sales etc
Does strike me that we have gone backwards in this department since starnes left the club and I know the CEO is in his first weeks at the club but really we need some sound bites,in fact a good honest leak maybe the answer !

The truth is that although Argyle mean a lot to us we are not an attractive proposition to potential investors, managers or players. We think we are a big club because our attendances are good but results wise we have not managed to reach any great heights because of lack of investment, geographical location etc. We are unlikely to be anybody's first choice destination yet ironically past players are forever singing our praises. Unfortunately I cannot see things changing anytime soon.

Nice summary.

Hopefully we will get further insight from Saturday Service and Skynet. The post from PM Pilgrim referred to above is ridiculous at best.

If there is no appointment announced by Tuesday it would suggest something has unravelled in the process as we know interviews were held a couple of Fridays back (10th). As always nothing worse than a vacuum of communication as the void gets filled with speculation.
