Hope they pick the same date for whatever it is they MIGHT replace it with.

There are a lot of us who are now stuck in Holland without a game to go to.

Amsterdam has these shops that have women in who are always waving at you to go in? they must have something worth looking at, they seem very keen!

And they trade after the local Spar shop has closed. They deserve support?

Although it may not be Argyle fans at fault here, English national team and club sides abroad are probably the reason this has been cancelled. I don't think it is the mayor of Emmen who is to blame, it's all those shirtless morons who've spent the last several decades lobbing patio chairs across European town squares that we should be blaming here. The butterfly market will generate more for the town economy than a handful of Argyle fans, who to him are just another set of English football fans abroad. He doesn't know our club or our fans, why take the risk of ruining a major event in the town calendar? All it would take is one bar to get a bit roughed
up (no matter how small the chances) and he would get crucified. His duty is to the people of Emmen, not a one off visit of a nobody football club from England.

He is of course wrong, and as an Argyle fan who knows our club I'm disappointed, but I can understand where he might be coming from here.

There were some isolated incidents in Maastricht last year (allegedly mostly triggered by the locals) and leaving the ground under police escort it didn't feel particularly "friendly". Perhaps Mr Mayor heard about that.

Look at it from his perspective. The prospect of even just a dozen beer-fuelled English football fans roaming around their showpiece market (however far-fetched that image might be to us) probably made him jittery, and/or he knew that, like in Maastricht, the local yoof might also be spoiling for a fight. He might not know much about us but I'm sure a local population of 100k will have its fair share of hooligans in a country where the phenomenon is not unknown, and an English club coming to town could well "spark excitement in the boys."

His only mistake is to cancel so late, that's simply not fair and rather unprofessional.

The market, which has nothing to do with butterflies, is the usual food and grocery market held every Tuesday in July and August.

It really doesn't need a strong police presence and the simple answer would be to play Argyle’s game on the Monday.
Obviously we know the mayor is worried about hordes of English hooligans invading his town and came up with a pee poor excuse to cancel the game.

Adams will be furious that his meticulous planning has been disrupted.

Let's be honest, the real reason it's been cancelled is because we're an English club. Absolute joke, hope Argyle can arrange another suitable game over there.

More likely they have seen your hair and were scared off
