Argyle’s game at Accrington looks like it could be postponed due to a significant outbreak of Covid amongst the Accrington players and staff.
The situation is bleak. There could be a number of postponements on the way. The EFL s should provide hard and fast rules and clarity for postponement of fixtures. Things are already becoming a farce..

Furthermore, why are players NOT allowed to line up together at the start of the match ( ie social distancing) but once on the pitch''''''' they can kick each other
they can push eachother
they can tackle eachother
they can hug eachother
they can pick up the football at lib which has been handled by other players etc etc ??
i AM NOT BEING PESSIMISTIC BUT REALISTIC

tHE RUILES ARE FARCICAL..

Farce indeed. Accrington played Fleetwood on Tuesday. Unless the Fleetwood team stayed 2 metres away all game from the 8 positive Stanley players surely they should be isolating now?

Wasn’t this always going to happen?? Especially as the virus spreads rapidly across areas of the U.K.

They are fudging a situation l feel because if they stoped some football clubs wouldn’t be able to handle another prolonged break without some money (eg IFollow revenue) coming in.

The league is going to be disjointed. So Accrington now won’t play tomorrow. I assume they have Tuesday’s game which will be called off and our game next Saturday because those 8 players have to isolate the same as our 3 have had too.

So that’s 3 games in hand. And where you gonna put them in an already crammed fixture piled up league? And lm assuming they might be hit again at some stage or come up against an opponent who are in similar situation. It could be then those teams are “fresher” by the time Accrington have to play these games. They going to have a small squad due to the budget at their disposal.

It makes it an unfair and farcical league the way we are heading. I just hope we can stay up and then play a proper league one campaign next season because this season is just going to get worse before it gets better.

BBC Wiltshire is reporting that tomorrow's Swindon v Oxford game is off due to a Covid-19 outbreak at Swindon, although neither club has confirmed this.

Our game against Swindon on 3 November may be ok, just, if the Swindon players have to self isolate for 10 days.

Interesting. Thought it was Wellens and some backroom staff mainly affected. Thought only couple players?

Sums up the inconsistency perfectly. As stated earlier in thread Crewe got game postponed with single player testing positive. We had to play without Aimson, Hardie and Grant following tests.

Accrington have eight positive tests, played Fleetwood Tuesday. Fleetwood players should be isolating but their game goes ahead. Wootton and Canavan are not allowed to play.

Edit - game on?

Further edit- now it's off

Look at the frequency of matches being called off. Even if Swindon is OK, other matches will be under threat.

For me at some point they will have to stop playing in the EFL because otherwise you could have a disjointed league where some teams are 5 or more games behind By the time we get to Christmas.

This is without Christmas/winter weather postponements in league one and two.

You either accept that players will get COVID and they get isolated and teams have to go with what they have. Or you bring a halt to this until the R rate is under better control. What is happening now is some teams are playing and other games are called off. Nobody as a fan, and maybe club officials, has a Scooby Doo of why some teams are playing and others aren’t. The rules seem different for each team and there isn’t any conformity as we head into November.

Scunthorpe put out a statement this morning saying three members of the management staff and six players are self isolating or have tested positive for Covid-19 and yet their game against Exeter today goes ahead.

Meanwhile we as fans have to somehow try and invest interest and enthusiasm in a competition we can all see won't be concluded in the normal sense, or even get concluded at all.

Football below the moneybags, pay per view plus subscription regularly tested Premier League is doing a bit of a King Canute at the moment.

But as a fan I struggle to care much about the whole thing knowing it is all going to be for nothing in the end.

I imagine it is akin to the football played during WW2. Games were put on but they must've been weird, just going through the motions knowing full well none of it really mattered while there were more important things going on.

Farce doesn't do it justice, we haven't even hit winter yet when viruses go rampant. The games won't be completed and even if a sufficient quota get played there will then follow the arguments over whether to conclude it on PPG or null and void the whole thing... and then legal challenges to follow that.

I still feel that as soon as any meaningful compensation/support package comes down from the government or the EPL then league football will cut its losses and cease... start again next summer once the vaccine is out.

With all that inevitable impending chaos, how are we supposed to give a solitary poo about any of these matches?

In terms of the status of the EFL as a serious competition it's looking increasingly wobbly, as x-isle says.

Personally though I'll take almost whatever live football is on offer in football terms rather than nothing, preferably Argyle if possible.

I am surprised at the resources the Club appears to have invested in playing and football related personnel this season. At the end of the day it's is Simon Hallett's decision but I wonder whether it will prove to be money wisely spent if this season collapses or becomes meaningless.

George Cooper's sister had tested positive for Covid-19 and he had to self isolate, hence him missing the game today.
So that's four players out because of Covid-19 plus Aimson and Hardie earlier in the season.

Cardiff playing at home today? How does that fit with current Welsh lockdown?
One rule for one..............

All Welsh football has been suspended until after the lockdown.

I assume George Cooper’s sister isn’t in Plymouth, so how recently did he see her? Did all the non Plymouth based players go ‘hone’ after the Lincoln game and not travel back to Plymouth?

Who knows HC when he saw her? Maybe they met up in or around Lincoln game.

Point is the rules (if there are any) seem to be applied inconsistently. This has already been discussed on the thread. Some teams are getting games called off - Swindon today, others not - Scunthorpe and us today.

If you know the criteria being applied by the EFL please elaborate for rest of us.
