Must ave counted about 20 police vans , plus about 5 police dogs vans behind the Lyndhurst after the match, unbelievable player lice presence
Best fumigate the changing rooms then

Silly comment even without the typo. Of course there was a big police presence, this was all too entirely predictable.

We have long known that rival firms 'team up' for big games. The knuckledraggers were probably an amalgamation of a number of clubs 'faces' meeting up for a bit of action at a big game. Had D&C *NOT* been there in numbers there would be howls of accusation about the lack of police being there.

Same thread, same finger pointers, different game... still wrong

Don't think that many on here are aware of the level of nastiness that happens when the firm's do clash as well. One of those where weapons are commonly used as was the case in Torquay many years ago where are lot dropped into Torquay where Rivers had been playing. This was always going to be a fixture with the possibility of violence happening, sadly it did so all we can hope for now is that those responsible are weeded out and face the punishments that they deserve.

I do think that the trouble was mostly handbags,if these people wanted to fight they could have easily got to each other. I do wonder why if this is such a high category game we have a line of stewards segregating the fans and not a line of police. The police should be doing more and not standing back watching, they only seemed to get involved when the stewards have already apprehendsd someone. I personally believe that if a steward was to grab me I would be much more likely to remonstrate with them than the police. Some of these stewards have got criminal records for violence etc and I feel that the stewards job should be handling problems such as greeting the fans and assisting where necessary, not arresting people when there are so many police there that should be doing that job. Of course there is not always the police presence at most games where the stewards may need to be more hands on but at these games there is usually less trouble.

How do you know?

It is quite common knowledge that a certain senior steward has a criminal record for violence due to an assault in a city center take away a number of years ago. This gentleman in question is actually a fairly nice guy but I do not think that stewards should be manhandling supporters/hooligans when there are police there that should do that job. Most of these stewards have other day jobs which could be at risk if they were to get injured whilst working for argyle,if a police officer they are fully insured and will be supported by D & c police concerning sick pay etc.

It didn`t look great and I know one of the `real` gas fan was injured when he was hit in the face with a bit of chair.

I was at an away game a couple of weeks back and there was an argyle fan giving it large in front of a lot of fans who were sat down enjoying the game. He was trying to get the crowd to sing but most of the fans were trying to concentrate on watching the game. Now we are all fans but if you want to stand up all game and sing that`s fine just do it up where everyone else is doing it not obstructing people`s views and generally being annoying, at one point one of the fans sitting down had a pop at him and said people are trying to watch the game. I swear the dude spent most of the game watching the fans rather than the game I mean why even bother going to the game if that`s all you are going to do all game?

And there's the problem. If you are suggesting that someone has obtained their position by covering up a conviction which would have prevented him obtaining it, you are part of the problem by not raising it with whoever needs to know. If true, depending on how old the conviction is, it may be deemed to be 'spent' and, legally, never existed.

I believe the conviction is spent and has not been covered up in any way, this gentleman is very well known by the police, argyle and the supporters due to being a well known face of Plymouth. My point is I do not like the thought of a steward possibly assaulting a fan and the steward and argyle getting into trouble with the law when the law should be doing that stewards job in the first case.

I was born almost literally across the road from Eastville stadium (now a bleedin' IKEA, I see), so I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Rovers!

My family (on my dad's side, mother's are Torquay) are Rovers. Thingwall Park, the other side of the new (1970) flyover. Because of them, rebellious child that I was, I grew up a City fan, until discovering Argyle in 1979.

I like Rovers, a good club, support similar to ours, been treated shamefully since losing Eastville.

Disagree with the statement : Appreciate the originator has also retracted the comment.
I spoke with many Rovers fans before and after the game having taken the train to HP
All those I spoke to were passionate about their club and very respectful of Argyle's rise to the play off places

Besides it was Rovers who gave Nigel Martyn his big chance when Argyle failed !!!

With every club there is an element who think a punch up is more entertaining than the football. Hope Rovers pay for the broken seats .

I remember some 'Argyle' thugs laying into a WPC in the away and at Mansfield a couple of years ago. What do you reckon the Mansfield fans thought of us then ? Every club has brainless idiots associating themselves with it.

A lot of animals in the away end today, but I'm sure 95% of their crowd were there just for the football.

I went to Rovers away in 15/16 and witnessed plenty of equally knuckle-headed Argyle morons being escorted to the ground by police.

These "big" games always bring out the mouth-breathers at every club.

This. Didn't think we covered ourselves in glory at Oxford (as a set of fans). It's unfair to judge a whole club based on the actions of a few morons. Watch our away support at the next match - moving away from allocated seating so they can get closer to rival fans and make hand gestures. Some drunk to the point of being barely able to stand up.

Every club has them - even us

Portsmouth was awful away this year

Complete morons hijacking the fans fest and giving us a bad name, unfortunately the more successful we get the bigger the group of animals get let out of their cages

I fear for Charlton

Bristol Rovers are no worse a club than any other. We have a fair share of total tw--ts. It is a sad reflection of football that it seems to encourage the following of the knuckle draggers.

Why I do not know but it is an unfortunate fact. I cannot think of another sport which has the same problems. It makes me very sad that as a 73 year old who has been a HP attendee since 1958 that my game is still infected by total tw-ts who think that supporters of other clubs are fit for totally unnecessary abuse.

I love football but it really has got some issues - some overpaid, retired footballer spits at a member of the community and the exscuse - I did not realise it was a young girl. So he thought it was fine to spit at anyone else - no wonder football has a problem.
